Touted as most visited, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, is a wonder to behold and explore. This image was taken on our resent visit to Gatlinburg Tennessee. I somehow missed it in the rush to get it out, so here you go.

The National Parks

Upon our return home, my wife and I began discussing other National Parks we may want to visit. As part of our research, we watched Ken Burns documentary The National Parks. It is a long 6 part series but well worth the history and back story on how the National Park System was created. You can buy it on DVD or stream it through the PBS app. It was both fascinating and sad to see the preservation of such natural beauty, and the removal of native inhabitants from their ancestral homes. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is our first, but certainly not our last.

Grand Canyon National Park

We plan to visit Grand Canyon National Park and Sedona in November, so stay tuned for images and stories from that trip.
