Macro Photography - Up Close
May 22, 2019

My fascination with macro photography is in the details. There is certainly beauty in the big picture. Sunsets, grand vistas, and soaring mountains, are a wonder to behold and capture. But as we cast our gaze to the fine details, nature does not disappoint. In fact, the closer you get, the more there is to see. Extension Tubes An inexpensive way to get into macro photography is to use extension tubes with lenses you may already have. They are...

Light Therapy At Night
May 7, 2019

Murphy and I spent a little longer than planned taking in the beauty of our city at night, and participating in some light therapy. Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness does not overcome it. I thought about that while mesmerized by this dancing fountain, hauntingly illuminated from below. I must have looked funny laying on the ground, propping my camera up with keys to find this image. Murphy kept bystanders entertained as I puttered...

Flying Pig Marathon
May 4, 2019

Murphy and I were out inspecting the preparations for the 21st Annual Flying Pig Marathon. Food venders, sound systems, and signage were all getting ready for one of the biggest events of the year. There will be a half and full marathon, plus a 2 mile Flying Fur event for dogs and their human companions. Murphy and I will not participate directly, but will certainly cheer on the participants. Over 36k are expected to take part in the festivity’s...

It can also be just as insightful to move in for a macro look at circumstances causing angst in your world. Storms Will Come A quote from Year of the Flood: "Storms of life will come. It need not be the storms that define us, but rather our response to them. If you...

Lighted Fountains At Dusk
April 26, 2019

Murphy and I spent the evening with a photographer friend, looking for light along the riverside parks in Cincinnati. This image, entitled Lighted Fountains at Dusk, feels sophisticated. Visions of black ties, evening gowns, and champagne pass through my imagination. A wisp of Bix Beiderbecke, or Benny Goodman hang in the air. Well heeled passengers queue up to board a finely appointed Pullman rail car at Union Terminal for destinations unknown. I...
